Construction to Start in Early March

On January 6, the Board of Trustees signed a contract with Whitener Jackson for the renovation of the main building of Cedar Lane UU Congregation (l-r: Board Chair Robert Essink and Owner’s Representative Lawrence Stalzer).

The renovation will create a more welcoming and accessible sanctuary, social hall, lower level, and elevator. All of the renovated areas will be ADA compliant and a completely new fire alarm system will be installed.

This spring, we will experience significant disruption to weekday and weekend activities. Temporary and long term safety walls will be installed to cordon off areas undergoing renovation and be inaccessible for the next year. Work will be confined to weekdays during normal business hours. The team is currently working on plans for Sunday worship services and religious education (RE) for this stage as well as a plan for weekday activities that take place at the church, including the nursery school. Look for more details in the eNews in early February.
